    ahhh problem solved

checked all the door seals and windscreen, all in tact (thank ****)

checked under the plastic housing for the pollen filter and it was full of water !!!!!! literally above the bottom of the pollen filter, the drain at the bottom of it was blocked up

poked a bit of wire at the hole and i got my feet wet with the torrent of water in there

apart from the puddle in the footwell all is good

    thanks

Underneath the pollen filter to the right are the drain holes, they can get blocked with muck.
