If the answer to both questions is yes, then did you know you can get a tax allowance of £45 per tax year for this and it can be backdated up to six years. Here's how to go about it. Please note the
uniform must have the company logo on it, this doesnt apply if you wear jeans and tshirt or a suit to work.

Dear Inland Revenue
RE: Expenses Allowance
I have been employed at (companys name and location) since (date of starting employment). I am obliged to launder my uniform which bears the company logo, at home, as my employer has no facility to launder the uniform at the company premises.
I therefore wish to claim an expenses allowance of £45 for each year since the above date.
Yours faithfully

If you have worked for an employer, before the one you work for now and wore a logoed uniform, you can still claim it, as long as it is in the 6 year time frame. This applies to ALL staff who wear uniform, whether you are a nurse, lorry driver or a shop assistant and have to wash it at home, as long as the employer doesn't have facilities to launder the uniform at work.
What will happen, is that they will adjust your tax code accordingly, and will add to it any refund you are due.
If you have any questions then PM me and I will be glad to help, its about time we got something off the Inland Revenue!!
