before the vectra i have now i used to have a vectra b estate 2.0 dti which i loved very much.i bought it with 45000 miles on clock, anyway iagreed a trade in with vauxhall for the car i now have cdti sri 150 estate.vauxhall done a check on this motor(vectra b) and they reckoned the car had done more like 120000 so i lost on the trade in beware.i belive there is a history check you can get done for about 20 pounds before buying

Being the cynical sort..... did you see proof of this mileage that Vaux were claiming??
Not that it would be like them to suggest such a thing to shave a few quid of a trade in?!?!?!

For others and future reference there are some obvious clues to a haircut car

1 - Steering Wheel - Look for wear in the leather or shining on plastic ones
2 - Pedals - If the rubbers have half the rubber missing this is a sure sign it's done 50k +
3 - Tyres - If it's under 50k the rears should still be originals on FWD cars
4 - Outer Edge of the drivers seat, will show some sort of fading or wear
5 - Rear Suspension, on low mileage cars still should look newish
6 - Stalks - look for build up of dirt, use thumbnail and if it's built up it will come away like a waxy residue.

Hope this helps someone not to get conned.

    Default vehicle history

You can check the MOT history of a vehicle from this website

    http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/internet/index.html

all you need is the MOT or V5 and the registration number
    this might help
