Default Suspension rumble sorted at last !!

Over the past two weeks I had an annoying rattle/rumbling sound coming from the front right suspension which initially started when i was driving over slightly uneven road surfaces. The noise got worse and worse and much louder so recentyly I whipped the wheel off to have a look what was going on. To my horror I found out that the shock absorber had decided it didn't need oil in it anymore and had leaked everywhere, this was obviously the source of the noise!! As a fully qualified auto electrician, I like to think that I'm pretty handy with a socket set too, so set about searching this forum for more info/how to's etc... I managed to find a new replacement shock made by Monroe for just under £40 yesterday, borrowed a spring compressor from a friend and penciled the job in for today! Anyway, to cut a long story short, I was shocked (pun intended) by how simple and straight forward the job was, I had it done from start to finish in about an hour and it now sounds quiet as a mouse over bumps, believe it or not I went out of my way just to find some speed bumps for the acid test....perfect, not a rattle or rumble to be heared Just thought I would share my delight with everyone in having a nice quiet Vectra again, I'm going to buy a crate of beer now with the money i've saved in labour charges alone if I'd have taken it to a stealer, sorry dealer to have the work done
Happy days, I'am well pleased with myself.....

Well done, but personally I would have replaced both sides and not just the one side.

Ditto, Its always wise to replace both sides as you will get a different response from each, but well done anyway!

Yeah changing both sides does seem logical and for £40 I might aswell do the other side next week!
