Exclamation Heard a whisper today - shopping centre security

Heard from a reliable source today that they are doubling security in shopping centres in the run up to christmas due to a evidence of a terrorist attack planned somewhere. The government are apparently keeping this quiet as not to affect the Christmas boom in shops (that sounds plausable for sure!)

There is a chance this could be NOTHING (let's hope it is) but doesn't hurt to keep our eyes peeled when we go to one.

I heard the same thing on the radio last week. Not very secret really. They said they were upping the security at all Major shopping center's.

Standard procedure at this time of year in the current global situation we live in.

I'm Fire & Rescue as most of you know and we have been placed on a higher level of alert in the run up to Crimbo as well. Has happened for the past few years.

    It's called "backside covering".

I'm sure the Police and Ambo-bods that are members here will have had similar states of alert raised recently.

Whilst we should always maintain a certain amount of vigilance, lets not over react or get paranoid. That is the main aim of terrorism - to change peoples normal habits out of fear.

Too true. My missus gets paranoid going to our local shopping mall but me, I don't bat an eye lid. It's not like I'm gonna be able to do much.

Well, I for one will be acting like a Glaswegian Airport Worker and will swing away if I here their cry.

Unfortunately as we're used to terrorist acts on our soil we seem to put up with it. I fear what would happen if a British Extremeist organisation started to retaliate.
