    Default Crap brakes

Hi guys, the new discs i put on 3 weeks ago look fine and so do the new pads i fitted, but ive lost all feeling in the brakes now, they will stop but im putting too much force on the pedal than i really should.

they were genuine VX parts and the discs were cleaned thouroughly before the new pads went on, ive done about 350 miles on them.... 500 at the very most, and they feel as bad now as when i changed the last set with less than 2mm thickness left

the servo pulls the brake pedal away from me when the car starts and i can slowly press the pedal down to the bottom of the footwell like diesels allow

any ideas on what it could be, the car feels a lot better stopping at 20mph but anything over that is pathetic

New brakes are like that mate, my new Signum was crap until about 1000 miles. Bear with them, and take it easy!

Not so sure mate, they felt great after 200 miles but now there feeling dead

got a feeling they have glazed over, but surely not this early into there life

if they dont feel better soon ill be scrapping VX pads and fitting Ferodo, never had a single problem with those

Vx aftermarket pads do tend to have a harder feel to them. I stick with the Vx OEM pads with have a nice soft feel

Did you buy the brake and disc kit? ( I think you did from memory). They contain the aftermarket pads which are not as good. If I was you, I'd ditch those pads and get the OEM pads which are much, much better. For instance on the 302mm setup the OEM pads are Ferodo.

If you buy the pads from Vx, bearing in mind the cost of the brake and disc kit, it's still a lot cheaper than buying the discs and OEM pads separately. That's what I do - buy the disc and pad kit and a set of OEM pads.

While we are on the subject of brakes, does anyone else suffer from excessive brake dust?

Doing my flippin head in. Never had a car that gives off so much dust.
It's that bad that when i've cleaned her, i find myself driving extra slow and using the gears to slow me right down, even using 1st and the handbrake to finally stop, such is the rate that the wheels get dirty.

I've had her nearly a year. Bought her from my old dealership on Network Q with about 18,000 on the clock.

Seriously thinking of fitting Greenstuff pads as these give off hadly any dust and are damn good too. Only thing is, they'll look daft with my Arden Blue calipers!

Im a bit cheesed off that they even have the nerve to sell the kits cheaper with the pads, knowing that the pads are naff

im used to driving vehicles with bad brakes (transit vans, dumper trucks etc) but if my missus drove it without me telling her the brakes are not up to full capacity yet, id be after a new car very soon

even the leaflet supplied by VX said to bed them in over 250miles

It's not that the pads are naff as such, they're fine for the day to day normal driver - but for the more spirited driver the OEM ones are a must.
