    Default VECTRA B 2.6 Vs C, 3.2

Hi, just new here and thinking of changing my 2001, SRI 2.6 for a GSI 3.2. Is there any of you 3.2 owners previously owned a 2.6? I want to know if is worth spending the extra cash. Or should I wait and get a V6 derv next year when they will be a bit cheaper?

    Richy

    I've had 3 V6's now.. A C25XE and a X25XE and now the Z32SE.

The early v6's were hot.. blisteringly fast. then they bought out the X25XE and it went a bit flat IMO. When I test drove the Z32SE against the V6CDTI I thought WOW i want the GSi..Smoother and more urgent and back to the same feeling as the early V6..Even gives better consumption figures than either car..

Diesel?? personal choice really ( awaits the diesel boys response )

Would I buy another V6?? Well I have test driven the new turbo 2.8. Mrs GSi's new vectra fund is pointing this way..

Hi Rich and welcome to the site mate.

As for the car choice I wouldn't be able to help as I have got the 'four pot' diesel, but I am sure one of the six potters (petrol and diesel) will be along shortly to give their advice.

Welcome Richy. I personally drive a 194bhp 1.9 CDTi and have put a few Vec B V6's to shame. If I could roll back the clock I'd be driving a 3.0 V6 CDTi mate. In standard form they kick out 180bhp but with a tuning module on they get 220bhp and still 40mpg. I would put money on it that a V6 CDTi would pull away from a GSi on the motorway. My 1.9 would give it a run for it's money as well.

I suppose it depends if you are a pertol head really, but the V6 CDTi gives you the best of both worlds - performance with real economy!

Speak to Big Phil or GSi3.2, as they have looked into getting their GSi's re-mapped, so I guess you'd be looking at around 250+bhp. That will shut us diesel braggers up for good won't it.

Whatever car you choose mate, you'll absolutely love it, trust me!

I used to have a B 2.6 berfore my 1.9 CDTi and believe it or not, the V6 wouldn't have found this 1.9 a pushover by any stretch of the imagination. That said, I would give serious consideration to the 3.0 V6CDTi.

Edit: Welcome to the site BTW

Its the torque on the cdti's that do it for me.
Ran a standing km this morning slightly up hill at 116mph in standard form with out the tuning box on.
Thats quite good going for a oil burner.

    A 193bhp & 303lbft confirmed -

    But

I reckon I've beaten that today with the new Digi Box from Mike at Diagnostix. I just need to get it Rolling Roaded to prove it.
