    Default Tyre Profiles

    I currently have

215 55 16w tyres fitted to vauxhall alloys.

They are an expensive profile, can I change to say:

    225 50 16w without any problems?

    Thanks

    I have 205/55 R16 fitted to my 16s - It's listed in the handbook.

(as soon as the tread goes I'm gonna fit the SRi 17s I bought off Jamie!)

The 215/55/16 is normally fairly reasonably priced. You should be able to pick up tyres at about £70 per corner which is fine.

There are only two tyres really worth getting at this size according to the Auto Express tests, Veredstein Sportrac & Continental Premium Contact. Both of which can be bought for about £65. If you're paying any less than that you're buying cheap rubbish!

If you change size it will gear the car down marginally and increase drag slightly. Probably loose about 4-5mpg on the motorway at 70mph, so wouldn't work out so cheap over the course of two years tyre life!
