Default Symptons of an expensive xmas!!

I have a 05 1.9CDTI that has started to rattle a a little. After joining the fourm and looking around I have been looking into things people have found wrong.

My rattle is when the Car is in neutral and the clutch depressed and lifted to bite point i have a rattle noise, noticeable but not over loud.

If the good old DMF problem what are options if VX failed to sort .... Warranty ends 180308 .......

Any other garages fit for cheaper ...... manchester area???

Also does it get worse of just keep on with annoying rattle???

That sounds like a dual mass flywheel problem. Its still covered so get it in!
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Three things, flywheel, clutch or gearbox bearing, you need to get it looked at asap while it's down to them, and don't be fobbed off either.

Sounds exactly like like the DMF problem I had - rattles just as you disengage or engage the clutch. Mine also caused the clutch pedal to 'wobble' when I rested my foot on it very lightly as I was diving along in gear and was worse in second.

    Get it replaced under warranty.

Best to be up front with them or play along and say ... don't know what this is!

Well, when I went in to the dealers I already had a long history with the problems so I was totally upfront. One of the techs took the car out and agreed with my observations and it got fixed.

What I did ensure though was that I demonstated the noise, such as when the clutch was depressed. At least this way I took control and was showing him the problem. I also went with him on the test drive.

If I were you I would go in and explain the symptoms and just mention that you think it may be the DMF.

Know doubt mate its the DMF!
exact same problem on mine as reported on this forum some months ago.
dont take any rubbish from the dealers about wear and tear its a flywheel and should last the life of the car mine went at 73k miles and was eventually payed for by Warranty Direct, which was obviously a warranty I took out following my completion of the standard VX 60K warranty period, which its about time VX extended!
Hyundai at 5 years unlimited and Kia at 7 years (ok drive train only) so come on VX give us loyal guys some peace of mind and incidentally did you know that all Hyundai cars in the USA have a TEN year warranty!
cant see our local VX dealers giving that sort of warranty while the sun is still up in the sky!
