Hi.......took my car to Halfords yesterday to get a Parrot CK3000 Evolution hands free kit fitted but the installer couldn't get the audio unit out, despite having emoved most of the surrounding buttons. He said it was the first Vectra he had done where the unit had jammed.

    It's a CDR 2005 VDO audio unit on a 2002 52 plate Vectra "C" 1.8 Sxi.

Any ideas on how to resolve ?

Will a Vauxhall dealer be able to remove it ?
How much would they charge for that ?

    All help is appreciated.....thanks.

YEA...; the halfords lot are NUMPTIES!!! LOL

No there is FOUR GRUB SCREWS holding it in place. and the stereos are quite tight but do come out very easily with the right tools like a small allen key, not sure on the size and a radio removal KEY

Hope that helps.. TELL him to LOOK next time!

is a very simple five second job. Is not a retaining screw at the back either. (not that I remember) and you have to BEND the cage down at the top and Bottom. it wont look pretty but that is what it is Designed to do and it will go back in nicely and neatly

There was indeed, but you could get the Radio it self out first, it was the cage that was the nightmare.

dont force it you can do it

take your center vents out and all the buttons out around the radio and the aircon controls

you then get to all the clips to slide the radio out 2 each side

take your time theres no need to rush

Have you removed the 4 grub screws and have you got a double din removing prongs, it can be a bit of a game to pull the radio out, but yes remove the switch,s and you might get more room to push the radio out.

Yes, the 4 screws on the front of the unit were removed first and he did use two double pronged tools that went into the 4 screw holes to pull it out.

I'm not that technical which is why I mentioned maybe going to a dealer to get them to remove it.

Does anyone know how much they're likely to charge to simply remove it ?

Also, in order to fit a handsfree kit, is it just the unit I need to remove or the cage as well ?

    Thanks.
