    Eek 4 Wheel tracking

Went into bmtr today to book my car in to have the tracking checked as my old tyres were worn on the outside edges. No problem booking it in but when he told me the price I nearly fainted. £94 + vat . Your car has to be 4 wheel laser lined sir as we can't just check the front without throwing the back out. The last time i had a car tracked (04 clio) It was £25 and 20 mins what makes the vec so special that the back wheels have to be done by laser??? I'm driving to disneyland next sunday so i need it doing but is it all neccesary???

That's OTT. A four wheel laser alignment should cost around £50 max - that's taking the pee.

I asked if he could just check he front as when i bought the car the front n/s wheel was badly kerbed. He said if they do the front the back will be knocked out or the back could be out and that could cause the wear on the front

I use National Tyres, check is FREE and adjustment is £22 (£11 after discount)
Phone around and ask how old their equipment is
If it is more than two years old don't use it

you adjust the front to run square with the rears so that the numbers on the rear are the same on each side and the front should toe out 1mm +or- .5 (i think thats what it is)

its just a selling technic to get you to buy the £94 + vat one
