Question Vectra Z32SE quarter mile time?

    Hi everyone,

I can't find this information anywhere. Does anyone know how long a Vectra C with a Z32SE engine takes to do a quarter mile/400m?

    Thanks.

    Hi stevedee3,

I have never seen an official 1/4 mile figure in any of the VX paperwork for the car. Over here they measure 0-60mph more than a 'drag' time. VX rate the Z32SE at 7.5 seconds to 60..BUT..

There are moves afoot by BIG PHIL to organise some form of motorsport day in the UK, either a trackday or a dragstrip day.. . We'll have more answers then for you...If you find yourself this side of the world around then I'm sure we can arrange something for you...

Thanks @Gsi3.2 and @Techwolf. Be interesting to see what times a manual transmission gives...

    I too found plenty of 0-100km/h / 0-60mph times.

Here in Australia the car manufacturers won't make claims about the acceleration or top speeds of cars, becauase they've all agreed not to promote speed. Instead they rely on car magazines etc. to provide these figures. It's all very silly...

My 03 VX Manual states the 0-60mph as being 7.0 secs.

IIRC, 04 and later models are quoted as 7.2 secs to 60mph!

When I did a magazine shootout with MK2 cavaliers (ages ago now) we had a guy from Datron come down to do the timing. Datron, for those that hevent heard of them are the market leaders in timing gear and tend to carry out testing for all the manufacturers. Anyway the guy was telling me that he was also a tester for manufacturers and as such a proffesional driver. After my **** 0-60 run he told me not to be too upset as when the manufacturers post 0-60 figures etc what they don’t explain is that they are done by proffesional drivers, on a special non slip track surface and they spend all day trying to get better and better, trying different things like tyre pressure, gear changes, different start revs etc. Once they have a figure they are happy with, its pack up and go home. For a normal driver, on a normal road to match the manufactuers figures (accuratly, using timing gear) is near on impossible.

    Very interesting m8! Nice one!

Personally, I think the rolling in-gear times (where there are no gear changes) are more important than 0-60 mph, like:

    20-60 mph in 2nd
    50-70 mph in 3rd
30-50 mph in 4th etc etc

This way, it shows the flexability of the engine etc.
