crank pulley

Hello, new 2 this forum i have a 2003 signum 2.0dti elite, having serious problems with crank pulley, the rubber compound in the middle of the pulley has tore of leaving the centre of the pulley attached. cant seem 2 undo the large nut in the centre. heard there a t**t to get off. any1 help a newbie?

Already had a read of that thread mate, cud do with sum info on how to take the nut off, tried airgun, cracker bars evrything and its not goin anywere.

Well Mark (GSi3.2) used an airgum with a torque multiplier - don't know if you read that far? - to finally get it off. Other than that, I'm not sure what else to try. Mark's the man to ask, but he's not been around the past few days.

thanks mate, any info at minute is useful. been quoted by vauxhall 79.31 inc vat per hr labour. really need 2 fix this myself. not paying that kind on money outrageous!!

any1 got any idea wot a torque multiplier is?

Basically a gizmo that fits between the nut and the airgun/ratchet/breaker bar and through a gearing mechanism multiplies the torque of the input force.

You need to find a commercial HGV garage to get it off, they use bigger and better Airgun's, as we found out, and they also Torque Multiplier's too. We borrowed one from an HGV garage to get mine off..

thanks 4 the info mate, my friend used to work in a lorry yard so he is going 2 get hold of sum1 2 have a look 2 c if he can solve this problem. willing 2 try anything at moment.
