    Default Remap my Signum

    Guys...and Girls of course!

Can someone either tell me or point me in the direction of a previous thread on where I can get a Remap which is apporved by vauxhall and does not void my warranty.

    Thanks

    Andy

It will void your warranty, but any decent tuner will cover it with there own, there is an irmscher tuning box you are referring to .

It's the one from VXRPC (VXR Performance Centre) - http://www.vauxhall.co.uk/vx/microsi...tre/index.html - although you can't seem to access any of the other sections currently.

In terms of warranty, I believe that if anything goes wrong with the car - engine/drivetrain related - then VXRPC and Vx will work out between them who's liable for what. i.e. whether it was the remap that caused the issue, therefore VXPC liable, or whether it was just a component that would have failed anyway, Vx liable - or a bit of both.

That remap is covered by their own waranty as well I think, not your VX warranty ?? Even though they are tied in with VX, unless it has changed recently

All re-maps void your engine warranty, even the VXRPC

It turns out this is not the case now Duncan, the dealer I use had one of their demo Astra VXR's done to VXRPC stage 3.

Anyway, it melted a piston, Vauxhall do not want to know. The VXRPC were brilliant about it though, he collected the car and took it to the VXRPC, they spoke with Vauxhall and Vauxhall basically said they would not cover it because it had been re-mapped!!!!

But the VXRPC are repairing it off their own back. So where it is good to see the VXRPC standing by their tuning packages, it is total crap that Vauxhall, who advertise engine upgrades in their own sales brochures, will not stand by it if things go wrong.

Just noticed you have added to your original post ... That is what I was stating, any tuner worth their salt will offer this kind of warranty, if they don`t walk away !!! I had the TMS/Superchips map on the VXR and this was the type of warranty offered to me ...

That's not good!! Basically Vx initially saying it would be covered then, in effect, doing a U-turn!!

Not very good of them, but I suppose they have to make decisions and stick to them. If they were to agree to cover cars remapped by VXRPC, who use EDS software, they would presumably then have to extend that cover to all other cars using EDS remaps.

They are not really doing a U-turn, as they never said that they would cover vxrpc work, they just never said they wouldn`t ! It is a bit misleading though ....
