    Question "Good will" payment

Finished work this morning at 6am went to start the car......... DEAD !
(parked inside the factory i work in, nice and warm).
    Flat battery ?
Called RAC out to get me going and Cutting a story short, the alternator is 5hagged !
Apparently the alternator dosn't continually charge, only when the ECU tells it more charge is needed.
    Anyway...................
Got me started and took it straight to the dealers.
Car went out of VX warrenty 16th July and has only done 31,500 miles.
Should i expect Vx to make a contribution towards the cost of repair/replacement ? If so, what % should i reasonably expect from them ?

You may be lucky, but an alternator is a part that isnt designed to last forever so to speak, so I doubt that you'll get much joy.

They'll keep saying no, but press the point and they'll probably cough up. You have to be pretty persistent sometimes.

I'm pretty sure there has been a recall for alternators. Have a quick search, i'm sure there has been a thread or two on here

Just found a post put up by Chris Gettings.
There is a problem with the 150 cdti alternators blowing the diode.
Denso 105a/120a/130a alternators on the diesel Vectra c and Signum from 2004 to 2005 within a certain chassis numbers ( which mine falls in).

Fingers crossed it'll be sorted and paid for by Vx ( fat chance ! )

I thought the min they gave was 50%, I'd push for nearer 80%, especially if its covered under a recall
