    Question Strange behaviour

I was driving to work this morning and pulling away from a set of traffic lights, the car didn't want to move. I put my foot down and it crawled as if I was in 3rd or 4th gear. After about 15-20 seconds, I had moved all of 20 ft. I put the hazards and prepared to pull over as the cars behind were getting impatient and suddenly without warning, the auto box made a big clunk sound and I shot forwards and carried on driving as normal and no more problems. Anyone else experienced similar or know what it could be????

I had a Granada auto once and the seals were on their way out it would not go proporly untill the oil had got warm, when I had the gearbox reconditioned it was ok, might be the same problem you have.

That's the problem I had with the Volvo S80 and Volvo have diagnosed it as a faulty 'auto valve' within the box.

Got the car into the dealers on Monday (Approach Andover) and was given a Zafira hire car. They rang the next day to say that they couldn't find a problem despite doing a cold start test in the morning. They did, however change a brake light switch as apparently this needed changing. I duly drove back to the Dealer, refuelled the hire car, swapped all my stuff back and proceeded try and drive back out of the car park - same problem again!!!! I limped accross the forecourt with my foot flat to the floor!!

I went back inside and explained the problem and got the mechanic who looked at it earlier that day and luckily the same problem occurred and he managed to see.

So I swapped everything back again! and drove off, not a happy chappy.

Got a call last night saying that they think the inlet manifold (whatever that is) needs replacing and that the bits will arrive today. I am not convinced that this will fix the problem as the man at the dealer did not sound all that confident :-(

Any of this make sense to anyone?

Cheers!! I have just had a call from the garage to say that they need the car until tomorrow now as the fitting of the part is taking a while.

Definately something electrical. It's all flamin electrics these days.

Oh for a throttle cable where i can feel what the engine is doing under my right foot, not some flappy pedal with nothing attached to it!

    RANT, RANT, RANT!
