confused White Smoke - Cold start

    Hi everyone

Could someone help with this please. I have read a few similair threads and my CDTI 150 has the same problem. When you start the car from standing between 2-6 hrs, I get a lot of white-ish smoke for 5 secs, the car feels and sounds fine and starts first time. It does not do it first thing in the morning or if it sits for more than 6 hrs ish. The dealer said.... it could be condensation in the CAT or mistiming, they reset the ECU and said that might do it, but as you may have guessed I'm not convinced and it is still doing it. The car is a 2005 cdti 150 40,000 miles. I've only had the car for three months and it's my first diesel any ideas? has anyone had the same problem and managed to solve it?

Thanks, I did think that the oil might me the wrong grade and maybe getting into / passing through the turbo or something similar. I am going to wait a few days and then phone the dealer again and give them a few suggestions.

I might get the oil changed as well.

    Fingers crossed

    It could be unburnt diesel.

Does it smell of anything in particular? If it isn't a persistent cloud for ages I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for getting back to me, I would say there is a vinegar ish smell but I have been told that is normal. The smoke is can below down the street sometimes. I'II have a look tomorrow and try the 3000rpm test for the turbo operation. It's my first turbo car and I'm really impressed with the power and the turbo makes a nice whistle noise, I haven't noticed any power lose through any gears, hot or cold.

    Thanks Again Folks
