Default Locking - second button push/boot opening.

I have a wierd fault on the central locking.
Single push to open drivers door works fine.
Single push to close car works fine.
Second push to open other doors will only work if I am standing by the drivers door with the key by the window.
Push for boot door will also only work by drivers window.
Very Irritating! Especially if I am wanting to put something in the boot.

Wondered whether it was the batteries (that is only managing one push on the depleted battery) - so replaced the batteries and re-registered the keys to the car.
The effect is the same with both sets of my keys.

Not sure if we are dealing with separated radio frequencies or aerials in the car. I would have thought one frequency and different codes. So is doubly puzzling why there is a strange range problem on the second door/boot actions.

I may try setting the car to single push opening with the fob and driver door opener button - but would really like to get back to normal.

    Default Is it the chip?

To add something to my own thread...
    http://www.spychips.com/blog/2006/09...tarts_car.html

This "MAY" indicate that the second actions on the key need the chip next to/near the steering wheel.
    Three functions of the key
    - Physical Key
    - Chip to register with the ECU
    - Remote.

No idea why the primary remote control functions are ok with the chip away from the car and the the secondary functions only work when the car can "see" the chip.
