    Angry Dealers.....GRRRRRR

    To cut a long story short, I went to look at another car yesterday. It was just what I was looking for but a little out of my price range, but I thought theres no harm in trying, whats the worst that can happen.

    The car was a 3.0V6 CDTi SRi estate in black on an '05' plate and was up at 10k.

    I went in and grabbed a salesman like you do and the negotiations began, I say negotiations in the losest sense of the word. He asked how much I wanted to spend and I told him honestly about £1500 on top of mine, (I told you I was being a bit optimistic.), so he went to have a word with the manager and said the best they could do would be £7500 for mine which would leave me with £2.5k to find, he wouldn't budge on the screen price. I told him I couldn't afford the extra, but that was as low as he would go (although he did offer to do 0% finance, which I thought was good without having to ask for it). Oh well I thought, it was worth a try.

    When I got home I had a word with a family member who offered to loan me the extra £1k that I needed, great I thought, on the phone first thing in the morning and the car's mine . Rang the salesman this morning to say that I could get the extra cash and he said he'd made a mistake with the valuation on mine and that it was only worth £6300, but as a good will gesture he would give me £6800, yeah right, when would I over to settle the deal. I said when you'll take my car and £2.5k, oh well, plenty more fish in the sea.

    There are loads of cars out there matey, don't worry.

    Remember it's only the 12th of the month. Go back in on the 28th for example and get a better deal as he'll be wanting to hit his sales targets then.

    Sounds like he got a telling off from his manager for not doing the deal and then again when he explained what he had offerd you for your motor. Thats why i think he changed the deal.
    Like you say plenty more fish in the sea.

    I know, it was just so annoying at the time but there will be better cars out there and i'm in no rush to change, never mind eh.

    Walk in with paper money and waft it under his nose and he will jump at you.

    If you rearly do want it, ring up and speak to the Dealer Principle, and explane
    that you now think that the salesman is pulling a fast one, and you won't be back, then see what he says.

    I think he probably did over value yours tbh, I was offered 6k against an 11k car last week, mines an 04 that I gave a shade over 9k for 6 mths ago, the book says 6-8k for mine depending on condition, should've been worth at least 7k imo, but thats how they do business I'm afraid.
