Redundancy

As some may be aware, I will be made redundant at the end of this year.

This is because the location I work at will be closed and moved to Darlington.

No offence to anyone intended, but Darlington ain't really a place I want to relocate to, so I will be made redundant on 31 Dec this year.

I've started sorting my stuff out and have just deleted well over 5 years worth of saved emails. I had every email sent to me/ sent by me during this time that was of any significance - only meaningless ones were deleted.

I don't know if I feel sad or happy to purge these from my computer and hence from my consideration.

Touching wood, my lucky rabbit's foot and crossing everything I can, I've always avoided it -sometimes by the skin of my teeth, but you have my deepest sympathy. I've been in my current job 9 years, and I'm looking elsewhere, but it would still feel strange leaving here.
Hope you get a good payout, and find something else quickly.

I have been made redundant twice, and neither time we had any notice. One of the time's i was in Aberdeen doing a delivery when the phone call came in, I pulled of the bay midway thru the delivery, shut the doors and drove the truck back to Milton Keynes! The government paid us out very well for this job, i ended up about £400 up on what i should have been.

Nothing lined up yet, just sorting CV etc out and looking around.

i got made redundant earlier this year i had an idea it was going to happen and when it did it was quick and on my last day i felt relieved to be leaving.

We have had a roundof Voluntary Redundancies where I work

I didn't volunteer .... we now have a register of people who may want to be made redundant to allow someone who is made compulsary redundant to stay.

I am thinking about it .... the cash will come in handy

What calculations are out there for redundancy payments?

depends how long u been there and how much u get paid per week.

i got the max £310 for every full year there.

Where I work now .... if you have done 10 years service you get 1.75 times the final 12 month's salary pay

This is exceptional I think
