    Default smell of petrol

    hi all
    wondering if you could help when my dad starts the car he is getting a smell of petrol but there no trace of it leaking all so is there any way of getting rid of check safe guard on the radio display

    For the petrol smell....is the car running fine mate? where is the smell coming from? engine bay or exhaust system? there could be several places to could check....pump, petrol filter, injectors, etc.
    If the smell comes from the exhaust the mix might be to rich which in that case the engine probably will feel some how weired.
    Sorry I can help much....some of the more mechanically minded members will give you more clear hints
    And for the radio SAFE you´ll need to enter the radio code, follow the procedure described on the users manual....the code is written on the car pass...well all of this depends...what radio model does you car have?

    thanks bluerob yes the car runs fine the smell comes from engine bay the check safe guard is nothing to do with the radio as the radio works fine

    I think itīs better for you to take the car to check that smell....to be on the safe side....no body wantīs to be liking petrol all around the place
    The SafeGuard means that the alarm was triggered, if not, there might be fault on the system or itīs sensors...another Dealer kind of job Iīm afraid.

    petrol smell get that in to the dealers mate right away the guy a work with had a petrol smell comming from his feista took it in to the dealers for them to tell him he was a very lucky boy because it could have went up in flames with a spark but there was no sign of a leak before just a smell

    dad had it looked at no problems found to do with the petrol smell but the car was very low on oil so the garage changed the oil and filter and the polen filter for some resson

    always worth checking mate when it come to petrol. is the smell away?

    yes is disapered on Saturday before he took it in typical not a bad price he was only charged £70 for the check over and oil etc
