    Anyone had any experience of these ?Do they work with the Vec?? Are they any good or can anyone suggest a good alternative?

    A friend of mine has one like this for his mk1 octavia vrs he connects it to his laptop and does all sorts with it.He also got it off ebay.

    I have an elm327 which looks very similar to this and it connects and reads engine data from my 1.9 ok. Not sure about anything else as I think that is software dependent and you only get cheap software with them.

    You need to make sure it can read CanBus, not just OBD II. If it can't read CanBus then it's an expensive doorstop.

    Speak to GG and Plasma - they got code readers that worked for them.

    Do a search on fleabay for U581. Works quite well if all you want to look at is engine trouble codes. Shows some livedata too, O2 sensors, etc.

    Do they have laptop interfaces Duncan?
