Well I went down to Luton for a play in some VXR toys today.

Considering my Zaf GSi has 250bhp, the 240bhp VXR is so smooth with it's power delivery it almost feels un impressive until you look at the speedo. But the chassis and stearing is in a different leaugue to the old GSi.

Now the Vectra VXR, what an absolute animal. The car in question was a black VXR which had to go before I did the shots, but the sound is like pure TVR without the loud exhaust, the performance is breath taking, massive torque which gives you that 'thrown in your seat' feeling for as long as you like, on the private strip I was on of course.

Equipment levels are very good, the Recaro seats are just heaven. But the best bit is the handling, with it's dual module CDC suspension system, it could take bends which would make EVERY other Vectra C just fall off the road.

1.9 Twin Turbo Diesel

This engine will not be fitted to the current Vectra C, Stu Harris (VXR Brand Manager) explained that this would be kept for the Vectra D.

180bhp 1.9 CDTi

Although this was planned for the facelift car, this also will be held back until the new Vectra D

New Vectra D

The new Vectra D will be launched in the UK in ealry 2008, this will be an all new car in every way, it will also use the new generation floorpan, unfortunatly there are no plans for a 4x4 Vectra D. The 4x4 technology will be reserved for the New Saab 9-3 which will be launched around the same time.

Vectra C Facelift

Many people has questioned why the Vectra did not get new rear lights and rear end for the facelift. I put this to Stuart, the simple answer, they ran out of money!!!! Obviously now the Vectra C is in the closing two years of it's life so don't expect any major revisions to the current Vectra C.

Any news on the Corsa VXR Matt? I believe it's a 1.6 turbo?

My wife really likes the Astra VXR, so I may be forced into one, rather than a new Veccy when I change cars.

Yes there is one at Lotus NOW!!!!

It will be launched towards the end of 2006, with the same 180bhp 6-speed 1.6 Turbo engine, 0-60mph in the 7's apparently.

The Corsa 3dr will be a sports hatch like the Astra and the 5dr Corsa more like the current 5dr Astra.

But the new Corsa will be pretty much the same size as the old Astra MK2.
