Holiday insurance claim

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of having to make a claim on their holiday insurance for items which were lost or stolen whilst abroad.
I was in Barcelona on Wednesday for the Barca - Rangers champions league game. Anyway to cut a long story short after the game when we were out in Barcelona, Las Ramblas area i had my pockets dipped. They got my wallet with approx 200 euro' in it ,my visa and my mobile phone.
The matter was reported to the Spanish police as soon as i noticed what had happened and i have a reference number for insurance. The only problem i have now is getting a hold of the insurance companies as they aren't open at the weekend! I cancelled my card at the police station and have had my phone and sim blocked.
How long do insurance companies take to handle claims ?
I was shocked at how relaxed the Police seemed to be when i was in the station it was as if they weren't even bothered. Then 1 officer told me that they only look into it if the theft involves 400 euros or more. What an attitude.

That's because picking pockets in that particular area is a national sport. Notorious for it. With all due respect, football crowds must be like shooting fish in a barrel for these people.

We had the car broken into a couple of years back when on hols and it took about a month to get the claim settled
