Question I need some help from our photography circle...

I have a wad of cash burning me pocket.....And I want some new lenses. You've all seen the kind of shots I take in the galleries.....

    The budget: £1600

    The requirement,

I'm gonna get the Canon 100-400 L series lens (£900 from a reputable shop or £785 off Ebay)

I want a good general purpose (Canon) lense that fill the gap from 17-100 as best as possible so I can ditch the naff 17-55 and 90-300 lenses I have.

I was thinking of the EF 17-85 IS for £300 then found the EF 24-105 L series lens for £600 but I do go down to 17mm regularly.......

Any ideas? My Head hurts right now and the photography forums I use aint much help!

I don,t know if they do a lens like I use on my Nikon it is an 18 to 200, I find it very very useful, perhaps the most useful size of lens I have had on a camera.

Brocks what camera are you using??

Im assuming with the 17-55 mentioned its something like a 350D/400D or 20D

What you have to watch is a 17-55 EF-S is the Equivalent to 17mm on a Full Frame Camera, the above have what is known as a cropped sensor (x1.6) - so 17mm on an EF Lens - i.e. the 17-40mm would equate to 27-64mm

If that made Sense. I've made that Mistake before - thought it was a wide angle that didn't turn out so wide. Now I'm on Full Frame Digital it is how it should be.
