    Default 60,000 mile service due soon.

    hi,

    the vx dealer i allways use want to charge me £280 for the above.
    does this sound right?

    looking at the checklist for the above service do they do everything,

    i have highlighted in red wot was done last time.

    cambelt was changed earlier this year

    battery (remote control)
    pollen filter
    air cleaner element (k&n)
    spark plug
    ribbed belt
    toothed belt and tensioning roller
    fuel filter
    transmission fluid
    brake fluid
    tyre inflation system?
    instrument (eco service) reprogrammed.10 w40 oil change

    any help appreciated, thanks.

    Out of warranty so I'd go indy or diy Kev,diy you will do 5 x as much for 1/5th of the price, and know it was done as well.

    Don't put 10W40 anywhere near it. 5W30 fully synthetic if you can get it at a decent price, especially if you're doing over 8k a year and only change the oil annually.

    I personally would say give it to the dealers; as much as you are out of the warranty the work they carry out is fully warranted.

    I.E, your cam belt snaps they foot the bill!

    Thats a lot of money for naff allreally!

    I agree with the oil ZS put, if your doing 10k plus a year have the 5-30w

    Noooooo, I've I've heard putting 5/30 in a car thats used to 10/40 is a no no, due to it's composition it can dislodge old sludge from 10/40 and cause major headaches, anyone care to confirm?

    any idea what the price of the first service on average is, my insp lights just come on at 8200 miles
