    Default Most Awkward Car

I've ever owned is this Skoda...

Timing Belt = Take the whole front of the car off

Fusebox = Remove part of the dash

Suspension = A Rail network like no other

    Headlight Bulb = Airbox removal

Battery Removal = Remove wire harness and struggle to pull it out of a gap slightly smaller than the battery itself

I can't wait to shift this ultra reliable "good car"

6 months = EGR valve x2, boot struts x2, unresolved vibration, squealing roller somewhere, add in the pollen filter fault where water ingresses and rots all the main wiring "not suffered this yet" and it all adds up to avoid like the plague.

Rear light bulb on Fiat Punto 1999 on - removes sub woofer, internal panelling and unbolt and pull off entire light cluster - peachy.

I tried earlier in the week Ian, but they wanted to give me a really poor px price so i've just got to leave it for now, it's always been my intention to get another Vx car anyway, this has just confirmed what i already knew tbh, if you want a reliable car that doesn't require 296 degree flexy arms and hands to work on, buy a Vx or a Ford, what really hurts is that I bought a brand new Pug a long time ago and it was the most shoddy piece of engineering I've ever owned, I'm not saying the Skoda is a bad cos it isn't, but once again listening to ppl telling me how they never go wrong and they are great on fuel etc I allowed myself to be drawn back in to an area I seldom go with a Vx car....The Ramp.

How does the advert go ? "It's a Skoda - honest" something like that, well that would be enough for me to leg it in the opposite direction lol

My Sister in Law's brother has a Superb and so far it's been ok so like most cars I suppose you can get a lemon.

Although they use VW underpinnings, I believe that a lot of the stuff is last generation VW gear which has been superceded for the current VW's/VAG. VW may have designed out some known issues on their own current range.

People slag off Vauxhalls, but they really are well built.

Over here the Police are still running a good number of Vectra Bs (2.2) and Omegas 2.2 and 3.2. Some of them are intergalactic milages, and still in active service.

The driver training school has their skid-pan up beside my office, and they've two cars on the wheeled skid-pan things. One is a Mondeo Zetec, and the other is a 1.8 Vectra B. The Mondeo hasn't moved once in the 2 months I've been there, but the Veccy is burning around day in day out.

Oddly, the cops got a load of Octavias and Superbs, but they're already being replaced early by Passats.

Our Skoda Vrs's are top notch, no problems with them. God forbid we ever see a VW.
