Default cost of new brake calipers

Hoping to paint my calipers tomorrow as i have 2 days off so wont need to use the car (should be plenty of time for it to dry).

Red calipers on a black 04 SRI with standard 6 spoke vectra alloys.. should look quite nifty

The photos I have seen have always looked awesome however I've never seen this in the flesh before..

Just wondering how much a new set of calipers would cost me if i paint mine up and dont like the colour so want to revert back ?

I have got some halfords caliper paint.

You`ll also have the option of paintting them black or other color if the red does not make you happy after you see it on the flesh

would other colours just go over the top of the red then or would i need to prepare the surface again ?

I`m kind of blind here cause I haven`t done it my self but my guess is that you`ll need to sand the surface to make it a little porous, clean it and paint it.

Maybe some of the members around had done it and give you other hints

As Rob said, if you want to repaint, just key the surface (rub it down to roughen it up) and then repaint.

ah righty, how long do you think it should take the calipers to dry once painted? Im worried that it may not be a sunny day tomorrow so drying time i guess will take longer ? Im going to be using halfords caliper paint.

    cheers!

If it's the Foliatec kit then it dries pretty quickly - obviously depends on the temperature. I think after an hour you can be putting on the second coat, so by the time you've done the first coat on the second caliper, it won't be too long before you can do the second coat on the first caliper. Once you're done, you just leave as long as you can before putting the wheels back on.

Anyway, in reply to th original post, when I bought the big brake upgrade from LMF, I enquired at my dealers about the cost of buying all the parts seperately.

The 314mm calipers retail at about £200 +VAT EACH.
