    confused Lights 'n stuff

Okay this is my first post so go easy!

Recently got a Veccy 1.9 TDCi 8v Club (didn't have much time to go looking) registered in Sep 2004. (54 reg)

Now, being blessed with the miracle of sight, i realised in 30 seconds flat that the dipped beam lights are total rubbish. After a trip to Halfrauds and purchasement of a pair of their superbright lights i embarked on some tactical re-alignment. Moved the beams up and the harminisation point out a bit... OK, a lot. Not aiming up or anything, just level now.

So now the light are no longer dangerous, they are just cr@p. My wife's Alfa with Osram +30's are infinitely better. Looks to me like there is a fundamental flaw with the design of the reflector. (is there one in that stupid little pod?)

Anyway, i was scrolling through old brochures and noticed that cars were fitted with ellipsoidal headlights.

I've heard that the SRI headlight units are much better. Is this true? If so, why?

Really don't want the hassle of fitting Xenon's with leveling units blah blah, just want to be able to see where i'm going!

Any info, hints, tips or clues are most gratefully received...

    James

Take a search through all the forums searching for this mate, it's been a known flaw for quite a while...

    Thanks for the reply mate.
Already looked through 5 gazzilion posts on dodgy lights but they all seem to say fit brighter bulbs and adjust the beam up - which i've already done and the lights are still poor - or fit HID's, which i really don't want to have to do as it's my wife's birthday in a few weeks and i need to spend 6 gazzilion pounds to buy her a suitably sparkly pressie...

If HID's are the only option, then so be it. Just seems amazing that a company like VX can't design a decent light unit in the 21st century when Lucas could do a top job 100 years ago...

Those are the only options mate I`m affraid....as simple bulb change that will increase just a little the beam distance and color (DiamondVision is the best so far I`ve tested) or jump to a HID. If you want to jump further you can buy a Facelift model which I think they are much better in that sense which that will be difficult considering the gazzillion pounds involved

Or you could buy a brand new car with the proper xenons on them, for a million gazzilion pounds.......

    Right, Xenons are on order...
HID's direct - seem to sell a decent kit for the Vec C.

Looking forward to being able to see where i'm going...
