Default Shell V Power Diesel - it's just oil isn't it?!

Had to stop to fill up yesterday and realised the Shell I had pulled into only had V Power Diesel left, as the fuel light had been on a while I didn't have much choice but to fill up
I wouldn't normally bother with these 'super' fuels and after spending £55 filling up I thought to myself...
Isn't diesel just dirty old oil, however you try and dress it up?

How could this V Power really make any difference in my clunky old 2.2DTI?

And guess what, I can't notice any difference at all!!!

You wont notice any difference..... cos your car isnt tuned.....

Performance fuels are really meant for performance cars as they are tuned to take advantage of the higher octane/cetane rating....

Shoving it into your clunky 2.2 DTi is like giving 'a la carte' to the homeless and a good wash afterwards !!

    V-Power diesel isn't a performance fuel.....

The only difference over their diesel extra is the cleaning additives. If you read their blurb properly, the 'extra' mpg you might possibly notice is solely due to the fact your cleaner injectors make the fuel combust more efficiently.

BP Ultimate Diesel delivers power benefits compared to ordinary diesel

BP Ultimate burns more smoothly and completely Cetane number is the key measure of diesel fuel combustion quality.

BP Ultimate Diesel has a guaranteed cetane rating of 55 minimum, compared to ordinary diesel at 51.

Similar to octane numbers for petrol, the higher the cetane rating, the better the combustion quality. So, because BP Ultimate Diesel burns more smoothly and completely than ordinary diesel, you can expect it to deliver more power and improve the acceleration of your vehicle.

BP's independent tests show that for diesel vehicles the increase in power output can be more than 8%, compared with ordinary diesel. These power benefits are derived from a combination of a cleaner engine and higher cetane.

Hmmm.....I wonder what cetane rating the V-Power diesel is? I might give Ultimate another try now I've had the remap and see if it makes any difference.

I put V power in mine and you can tell a difference. Its better than things like Millers Sport 4 which I couldnt tell any difference with.

Given a choice I'd put BP Ulitmate it but they stopped doing it down our way

I use the Millers Sport 4 in my DTi - it reduces the amount of black ****e on the back of the car, which is a bonus.
