Just did a search and the Antara is the only one with the 2.0 engine for 2008. Looks like a low rent version though - 127ps only

dont think they have mate, they have changed the spec slightly in that the 2.0 has a bit more torque but no more power and that I think is as fitted to the new Zafira maybe a bit more frugal on the juice.
Its an interesting point though and one we deffo need to keep an eye on.
as we all know and me amongst many the 1.9 has had loads of probs!
so may be they have revamped it in a big way and I hope they have cos my siggy 1.9 has been a right royal pain in the ass in the last few months!!
come back the 2.2 all is forgiven!!

Probably because the JTD hasn't been the most reliable unit, what with the dual mass flywheels and the swirl valves.

The Vectra and Astra will probably get a new diesel when the replacement models come along.

It's essentially a Daewoo engine, and nothing to write home about, by all accounts. The 1.9CDTI engines are being carried forward into 2008 at least for the Astra and Vectra, according to the latest brochures. When the Vectra 'D'/Insignia comes out.......who knows! VX may well have something up their sleeves to replace the 1.9CDTI, but not anytime soon, and certainly not the Antara lump. There is some development along the 'old' CDTI route, with higher power/lower emissions as seen in the new 1.7CDTI in the Corsa which is a corker apparently.....maybe something related to that may emerge in the new Vectra.

Edit: New 1.7CDTI in the Corsa is 123bhp, so surely the Antara 2.0CDTI lump is seriously underpowered

As far as I know, VX are working on a Euro 5 diesel to replace the CDTI. So we may expect something probably after the D comes out. If true to form they will launch it with the current engines and then introduce the new engine later. I am sure that someone on here is working either on, or close to the new engine (dim memory of previous post about diesels)

Is this a trend? Going from 1.9 to 2.0? VW have done it, Mazda fit a 2.0 diesel (as Ford too) etc etc.

Euro 5 is only a year away
