    Default Anti-Freeze

my anti-freeze light keeps coming on, but the anti-freeze in the car is red, anti-freeze I bought in the shop is green-blue.

was thinking red was maybe for diesels, green/blue for petrols, but my neighbours 1.6 petrol focus has red in it too. any ideas why the stuff most places sell is green/blue, newer cars have red, sick of the ****** light on the dash but no-one yet I've tried has sold the red stuff, just green/blue.

I think you'll find the red is supposed to be longer lasting. Not 100% sure though

    HI hendry
The red antifreeze is a long life brew with a life of 5 years. The blue is a 2 year mix.
Vauxhall no longer stock the blue version.

Note that the two types are NOT mixable.

    Hope this helps.
