excel help

I use excel for my timesheets for work.
Problem is when i open a timesheet and try and change the time's, even just pressing the no. 1 key. It automatically opens the safe as box and i try to cancel or even close the safe as box it will not close. I'm then stuck as i can't do anything with it.
i have to go into task manager and end task 'excel'

I asked our IT dept and they are about as quick as a 1.0 corsa.

I also tried Microsoft and i did a update well 26 updates as they said my laptop needed them.
But still not working
Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

your left alt button is stuck down

i fyou press the alt button in excel and press 1 it opens the save as page

do you mean "Save as.."?

Have you tried working on another file to make sure it's not the file itself that is corrupted?

Sorry yes it was save as.
Just tried another document and it's the same.
Just pulled off the left ALT button and it worked once and then again same thing.
IT can fix the button later.

I'm just thinking. When i shutdown my laptop and then start it up again their is a beeping sound and i have to press and hold the up arrow or the space bar to get it to boot up. It's been doing this for a long time so i only ever have it on standby now, to save the messing about.
I think it's time for a new one. I will need a jolly to holland to get it.

If it's beeping when you start up it's either a bios error beep or you do have a key stuck down somewhere... Open up notepad and go through your keys one at a time see if any seem to be sticking.

I can not open it up really as it's a company laptop on a rental aggrement. I'll try and give it a bit of a clean and see what happens.
I need this thing working to keep me connected.
I'll just put my timesheet on a usb stick and send it like that until i can get to holland to sort the laptop.

as stated above the alt key is faulty... probably coffee in the keys

Come on m8, you must be tired by now, he said to open up NOTEPAD to try to type using all the keys to see which was stuck not open up the LAPTOP

Have you tried a Word document instead?
