What (if anything) can be done to boost it even more?
What (if anything) can be done to boost it even more?
chip , air box mod and performance filter ! stainless zorst too ! after that fella it gets expensive ! dblias intake etc ! not worth the expense for the gains IMO !
asbove veccy22, plus... if you got K n N cone filter cold air feed from front grill, crank case breather filter, get the 2.4 inlet manifold, uprated plugs and ignigton leads, quick shift, uprated fuel pressure regulator (fse) and fuel pump, hi flow fuel filter, that with out spending to much, performance oil filter.
free mods but car off the road for few days and effort, port polish throttle body, if you got pre cat remove it, if you gone strip head smooth and polish ports vavle pistons (very hard work)
reg service? fully symethic oil, use v power shell fuel higher octane and cleans engine get perfomance back, run injector cleaner every couple of tanks,
dnt go for chip get it remapped after you have done every thing you wana do to it
all adds up you will feel the difference but if you wana spend some money
wna spend 5k? turbo lol. i found out the 2l turbo dont fit as i was going toget one as you can get them cheap
hope it helps
Ya cant do the pre cat on the vec c 2.2's unlike vec b and astra.
sell it and buy a 1.9 cdti...........
sorry i couldn't resist it
Are you on z22se.co.uk beefycol?
The tuning thing on the 1.9cdti sounds so tempting, but unfortunatley,to many owners eventually have problems with their engine as a result, some are lucky...most are not,for example at the begining of the year every other thread spoke of nothing else other than tuning boxes, now?....Well lets just say after a string of 'unusual' problems and sweaty palmed warranty claims(and not just on PC forums) things have returned back to normal. I dare say Caterman and the lads have had tremendous fun playing with their oil burners, but as the engine itself isn't really an exact science, and is more expensive to service,i'm sure they would all agree it "tuning" in such a fashion comes with its risks and no mistake.
I've completed a small list of enhancements on my 05 2.2sri,and it pulls like a train, and a complete difference from the slighty sluggish from start engine she was when i first bought her. I certainly havn't had any issues with standard 1.9cdtis round my neck of the woods, and i agree with the points raised about sorting out the air filter, and using vpower, with fuel cleaners and octane boosters,my word just them alone make a tremendous difference. The engine loves to rev,and 3rd up can be quite fun to say the least
The engine is so reliable, and pull of from start...well give me a petrol any day,i'm not one to wait for turbo lags to sort themselves out if you know what i mean. So please don't regret getting the 2.2,it's a tremendous engine, and will serve you very well.PETROL HEADS HAVE MORE FUN
my 2.2direct is awesome. sometimes wish i bought the 2.0t but when i set off in third by mistake i know my engine has some grunt. jsut wish i had money at the moment to do the exhaust, 2.4 manifold, larger t/b and cams but i will wait.
I agree, come on lads, the 2.2 petrol ain't a bad engine by any stretch, mine has certainly been 100% reliable (he says with a worried look - tempting fate?).
I am spending a bit at a time, and I'm sure I'll have something I'll be happy with. I think the biggest gripe people have is the fuel economy, (non-direct owners anyway). Just looking forward to getting the 2.4 manifold, new exhaust manifold, sports cat, cams and a remap and she'll be well away.
Chin up!!
