Default Air Bag ECU where is it ?

Hi peeps, I took my vectra into have its airbag light reset which was on when I bought the car (flood damaged) It came back with afew errors but there was a B1000 I think it was which they said ment the ecu needed...

On the job sheet he wrote something like Only TC B1000 replace ecu £170 Total cost £320

Just wondering where this is, if I can get one off a damaged one and also.. would it need tech2'in to my main ecu or are they just standard modules ?

    anyone out there help ?

    cheers

    Steve

The ecu is under the centre console basically directly under the armrest, im not sure if there interchangeable from car to car i will check for you tomorrow, you will need a tech 2 to clear and reset any codes.

all i can say is there's something wrong with the figures there....

I changed an airbag ECU last week..the ECU cost £370+V with all discounts applied, then yes, it has to be tech2'd into the car.. you need to programme the module back into the canbus and you need to activate the individual systems within the airbag, so it address's the correct stages of the squibs in the correct order and knows it has side airbags/curtain airbags etc..it's not plug n play at all.. then you need to lock the ECU before it will remove the fault light..lock the ECU with the wrong programming and it's toast, buy another one..

the location is correct, it's under the centre console and drinks holder..remove the rear centre console and the drinks tray.. it helps to remove the gearshift gaiter and the airduct as well..3 10mm nuts hold the airbag ECU to the cars floor.. 2 clipped multiplugs and an earthlead that also gets in the way....

as with any work on airbags..disconnect the battery for at least 15 mins before starting work to drain down the firing capacitors..and don't sit in the car while programming..the seat occupancy detector doesn't like it.. thats what the tech2 has got a lead for, so you can stand outside the car..

I got quoted £290 plus VAT from my guys at Vaux to get a new airbag ECU for my 2002 Vectra C, GM part number 13142540, 8 airbag unit, thats with max discount!

Mine too has the B1000 code, ECU malfunction. I am currently looking into getting it repaired, but not sure if this is possible.

The price of these ECU is a disgrace, I just cannot understand how what would seem like a circuit board can be so much, you can buy a laptop for the same money!

I want my airags to work, but will be looking around £400 to get a new one from Vaux, fit it myself and then get Tech 2 to sort it all out!

    Staggering.
