    Default My First mod

Well i finally bit the bullet and done the airbox mod this weekend. Was a lot easier than i expected. I am now thinging of replacing the air intake pipe that runs across the radiator grill with the shorter one, has anybody else done this? If so do does the front grill have to be removed?

I also fitted the "TC" switch to the dash, it lights up but as i drive a 1.8 nothing happens.

However whilst doing the airbox mod, i discovered that the airfilter was very dirty, the car was supposed to have been fully servced when i got it last month! Contacted Evens Hallshaw dealer where i got the car from and waiting for their pathetic excuse!

I you read through this thread, I have recently fitted the shorter GSI intake.
You will see pictures of it fitted near the end of the thread

The traction control switch will only light up, as TC was not available for 1.8.

it will more than likely involve taking off the bumper...it's not a big job to do, so don't be 'scared' of doing it...5 mins tops to get it off..

So its a matter of taking the bumper off, from a post else where on these forums i remember it being a couple of screws on top of the grill and i think behind the wheel arches? Does anybody have a link to the procedure for this? When the bumper is off, does the air duct just unclipp?

Thanks, I am a complete newbie when it comes to car mechanics!

can tc be "enabled" on cars that dont have it or is it a mechanical thing that is added to the car?

Pretty sure this is a stupid question and the answer is no but I thought I would try. Really miss having tc, I had a 2004cdti150 that had it and changed to a 2007 2.0turboxp with 19" wheels and really hate spinning the wheels @£180 a tyre. Also miss the auto wipers.sorry for hijacking.

On the air filter, don't think they are changed every service on their schedule, I think its every 40k.....
Now I need a turbo to keep up!
