    Default A Loom

Don't ask how it happened but................

If you look in the arch of the front passenger wheel (Without the wheel on) there is a couple of wires that appear to come from the right hand side of the arch and into plug which connects just above the hub inside some of that flexi plastic tubing.

I think these wires are the electrics for the ABS, TC and pad wear sensor talking to the car as when these wires got "cut" the ABS, TC and pad wear lights came on the dash !!!!! (I said don't ask)

Can this loom be bought, if so what is the part number or could I resolder the wires together.

When they disappear into the right hand side of the arch where do they go and how easy would it be to take out and replace

    Thanks

You got the last eight digits of your VIN number? Also whether you have things like AFL, Xenons, IDS+ and tyre pressure monitors fitted.

Of course, how do you expect any help unless you put up a photo

It was dark when I got home, and didn't have my camera when it happened.

Basically I was on a curving sliproad onto the M74 from Hamilton when all of a sudden I heard a flapping noise from the arch. It sounded like something stuck to the wheel bashing the inside of the arch each time the wheel went round.

Got off the motorway after being unable to see anything on the hard shoulder, got the car jacked and the wheel off and something had damaged the tyre along the rear egde and it was flapping about. (The metal braid underneath was exposed). Because I was driving to get off the motorway I think the flapping rubber/braid went straight through the copex and the wires.

So it was space saver on and a trip to a Kwik Fit for a rather expensive Bridgestone tyre before the 5 hour drive home.

Was quite lucky really, we could have been going so much faster and it could have been so much worse especially having the other half and the nipper in the car too.

The trye was completely ruined, but it did not burst.

So I drove home with those three lights on, which I think means that the car is not receiving info from that wheel as to wether it is spinning or not so can't kick the TC in, obviously it thinks I have no brake pads, and if I have to do some very heavy braking then the ABS won't work to that wheel.

My last 8 digits are 51127650. It's an 05 SRi with no AFL, Xenons, IDS+ or tyre pressure monitors fitted.

It's not totally clear from the diagram - guess you'll just have to follow it up into the engine bay to see where it finally connects into.
