    confused Back to standard.

Taken the Caterman Box off today, the fuel consumption has gone through the roof lately so I've taken the box off to see if its my driving style thats affecting it.
Also turned my panel filter around so its got a clean flow of air in, and reset the ecu.

So I shall see if it makes any difference, otherwise I shall mention it to vauxhall when it gets booked in to repair the seatbelts.

Anyone think of anything else I could check?

did you mean, turn it round so the clean bit is the other end or turn the filter over??..unless it's really manky turning it round will make little difference to it's running..what MPG are you getting now??..excessive smoke etc??

Yeh jus turned it around so that the clean corner is in use, i do this every 5 thousand miles and clean at 20 thou, getting 460 miles to the red line so thats about 30-35 mpg roughly correct me if I'm wrong I'm crap at the conversions, and yeh excessive smoke as well

yep, around 34Mpg..if it's smoking that hard i'd try dropping in a clean paper filter to see if the smoke recedes with the box off, and the economy restores...if it doesn't then it's pointing to an overfuelling issue, so you then have to look at injectors etc which aren't exactly the strongest.....

affect it?..no.not really, but unless it's really clean it won't flow as well as a new paper one...so to get the 'best' running conditions for your engine i'd eliminate the K+N and restricted airflow by fitting the new paper one...if the car still smokes excessively then it points to fuelling not to airflow issues..

Marty, 460 devided by 12 is 38, that isn't bad mileage tbh, especially as you do short runs picking up the wife and the town is jammed up a lot lately with all the roadworks going on.

Yeh I did think that to be honest, Vv, but jus wanted to be sure. Done 20 miles this morn and the smoking has gone, so guess it was the box. And to be perfectly honest the car pulls smoother jus without the added umph. Might start saving for a re map haha should be able to afford that when I remortgage in the next 4 yrs haha

Maybe I'll post the box up on here for a small price.
