    Default Diesel Van

I hired a Transit yesterday to go from Brum to Reading and back, I mentioned it in an earlier thread, I was told they will do about 25mpg to the gallon. Well this one did not do many to the gallon. I used £40 worth of fuel to do 275 miles, I can get more to the gallon out of my 3.2 V6, I was supprised to how few miles they do to the gallon, But the van served it,s purpose and got the job done.

£25 did a 200 mile round trip in a Merc Sprinter. Not bad for a 3.2 CDi. Was doing nearly a tonne on the motorway for most of it too.

we had 2 of them 21 days and over 4000 mile

when we picked them up both had less than 10 miles on the clocks

Thats 31 mpg Ed, not bad considering you probably had it loaded to the gunnels

    £4.60 pg

    £40 devided by £4.60 = 8.7

    8.7 devided by 275 = 31.

I can get better MPG out of my Vectra on a run, The van was only loaded with a bed and a wardrobe, so not too heavy.

Drag Ed. Even a slight breeze against a brick wall shaped transit will kill any economy. TBH, I reckon 31 mpg in a Tranny is brilliant, from now on, we shall call you Reverend Taylor.

You should have been with us then I had my foot on the floor a few times on the way back, this van did have to work hard, So perhaps it was not so bad after all.
