Default A quick thanks to all..

Hi guys, I just wanted to thank all users of the forum who offered me help recently with my engine problem. I recently bought a 2005 Vectra, 1.9CDTi 150 SRi and after only a couple of weeks I decided to buy a tuning unit from DTUK, before fitting it I decided to check the little bar connecting the swirl valves i have seen so many of you talking about, and low and behold it was there lying on top of the Inlet Manifold. I sent it back to my reseller and he sent it into Vauxhall, they fixed it and £531 later I collected the car, yesterday... I had been told my car had a timing chain fitted but whilst at Vauxhall they said no it's a belt and it's due in 13k miles so £165 of the £531 is the timing belt changed which I decided to have done just in case. I'm no mechanic but I guess you never put an old belt back on. On collecting the car and driving home it ran like a dog, absolutely gutless, flat out wouldn't run up the hill in sixth gear. It went back to them and they said the "vacuum box" had gone, something to do with vac to the turbo... oh and we'll do it free of charge for you, very sorry they said !! I wonder if they missed it first time round. If anyone can explain what this is I' appreciate it...
They called this morning to say it's all done and works fine now... I'll collect tomorrow and be the judge !

Anyway, apologies for the length of the post, but if it hadn't been for vectra-c.com I would probably have driven it around like that for ever so thank you all again very much. I'll fit the DTUK box next week too.

    Thanks all.
    Mark.

The turbo waste gate is controlled by a vacuum. A mechanical pump provides the vacuum which is controlled by the ecu via a valve which bleeds in air to vary the vacuum. Without the vacuum, the waste gate would be open all the time and the turbo would not spin up.
