    Default respray...finish

got my car going in next week or so for a full respray...
when it went in originally for the near side to be re-done.. it came back with swilrs all over the car..
can you give me some advice of how new paintwork should be polished up etc after it has been resprayed so i get a mirror finish and the garage dont swirl the paintwork again!! so i can let them know what i want to be done to it!!

I always thought for the first 6 weeks or so after a respray you couldnt touch the car with Polish or any such like stuff as it would knacker the paint work..

    Might be wrong though...

have a look on detailingworld.com. There may be someone in your area who for a small fee may do it for you! Or get some tips and buy all the correct stuff
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

I know myself how to keep it lookin fine and swirl free but the valeters at the garage dont!

Tell them once it is painted to just leave it not to touch it with a machine at all that way it will be fresh paint and you can either polish it yourself or get a pro to do it for you as said before try http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/foru...ay.php?f=89for detailers in your area

they will machine the paint anyway...they have to..

Even on the latest waterbased systems there is still overspray and small belmishes that need removing..the unmachined finish will be dull and shineless.

the machining that they do after the paint has baked is to 'flat' back the new finish with 2000 grit and then to 'compound' the paint back to the new shine with a rotary polisher..and it's the same machine that the pro detailers use....just not used with the same compounds that the detailers used..

I'd do nothing to the finish for a week..not even wax it..then , if you want to deswirl it, get a PC onto it..and then seal/wax it etc..

no worries...i know it comes back looking all shiny and stuff...but full of swirls no doubt!!..
is that all it will need for the winter?..a seal and wax??... obviously wash it first but is that enough?..
only got some nattys blue and AG extra gloss so that will have to do... as i need some new products but the wallet is a bit low!!

yep..i bury mine in natty's ( now Big phil has converted me to it) and it seems to last very well..all i've done since is to wash it weekly and use speed detailer to keep the shine fresh..then just rewax it once a month...

the car shouldn't get swirled if you ask them to just machine it and then jetwash it, but to keep their buckets/chamois's off it..thats where the damage starts..at their 1st wash.. where the paint is still not 100% hard..
