Default HK Drive and Play install

Finally decided to properly install my Harman Kardon kit, had the head unit out today to attach the aerial lead and now I need to power the unit. I'm thinking of having the central box behind the glove compartment, which I've successfully removed.

The H K kit has 3 leads to connect up, 1 ground (which will be connected to the convenient grounding points behind the passenger airbag), 1 live with an inline fuse and 1 "ignition". Can anyone recommend where to connect the 2 power leads?

I was thinking about using one of the spare slots in the fusebox but I've not done this before. Is it easy enough?

Presumably the "ignition" lead just tells the unit when the ignition is switched on and off, so the kit turns itself on. Can this just be connected to any circuit (eg the cig lighter) which becomes live with the engine running?

I've done a fair bit of electrical work in my time, just not much with cars! Any help would be much appreciated!

If you've got the glovebox out the best place to get your feeds from is the rear of the fuse box, near the bottom is a heavy red and also a black (ign).I soldered a wire onto each of these and then fitted a fuse holder,i would also avoid any earth points that have an airbag earth on them just to be on the safe side.

Good point about the airbags, I'll take a good look and reconsider my options... On the other hand, an ipod activated passenger airbag would be a great practical joke!

If your car is the right model, you may have a phone harness lurking behind the glovebox, which has permanent and switched live. That's where I powered by ICE-Link fron, and where I'll plumb in my own Drive and Play -hopefully next week, while I'm off.
