Default Should Vauxhall Pay For Replaced Blower and/or Resistor Packs

Below My Email to Which Do you think that Vauxhall should pay for replacements???

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
Please see below an email I have sent to both my garage and to Vauxhall. I am annoyed that this fault is costing me a lot of money (£120 + fitting, so far for resistor pack - my car has climate control) for a fault that could have been avoided if included in the servicing, or warned about / rectified by Vauxhall.

" BLOCKED DRAIN CAUSES BLOWER and/or RESISTOR FAILURE
Having suffered the above air conditioning failure, I have discovered this is a common fault on all Vectras /Signums due to the design making it critical that the pollen filter drain is kept clear.
Why isn't this covered in either your service schedule or handbook?
This has given me unnecessary costs in replacing the items. "

I have had NO reply from either yet.

I looked on the internet and found the following, which included this message.

    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32310&highlight=Blower+resistor

Here you go mate, its a common problem.

"Complaint: Blower motor is running only in high speed, is without function or running when ignition is switched off.
Cause: Condensation water from blower motor accumulates at bottom of blower motor housing ( rust formation etc. ). Resistor is damaged.
Production: As of VIN W0L0ZCF3561069032 (13.01.2006) improved parts have been introduced in produktion.

    Remedy:
In case of customer complaint check resistor and blower motor for water marks or rust. Drill a 4 mm hole at the lowest point of the blower motor housing (brush area) when the blower motor is removed."

Check post 22 has all the info needed.
    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...t=21620&page=3

Please can you warn other Vectra / Signum owners of this problem.

Also, shouldn't Vauxhall be taking some action to rectify this and/or pay for damage done by poor design and/or information

I had one go on a 96 Omega CDX, as you say it just continues to blow even when the car isn't running, I ended up taking the fuse out of mine each time and sold the car on like it in the end.

It's covered under warranty - how old is your car?

    Thanks everbody

Vauxhall Customer Services rang me and inferred that the garage should have cleared the drain while changing the pollen filter.

My Vauxhall Garage has just sent me a message saying that although there is no specific instruction to clean drain, they WILL repair car free as a goodwill gesture.

I now need to negotiate with them and my freelance mechanic who found the fault and pointed out the water to me. My car glovebox is in bits at the moment.

Hopefully I have a result, thanks to information on this website.

well, that is a nice result for you...... really happy that some vauxhall agents will pick up a fault and fix it for you even though your warranty seems to be out...
