    Default Who else hates Tail-gating?

I feel like a rant and I can think of no other irritating road habit than this.

I was driving home and when I reached a built up area I slowed down to 30mph as the speed limit is - and there are no cars behind me. Then out of nowhere a big 4x4 races right up to my rear bumper, nearly parking in my boot. I slowed down out of spite to 27mph - in case I have to brake and they end up ramming my motor. Anyway they sit there for about two minutes until we come to a dual carriage way. When we get onto the carriage way I get up to 70mph but low and behold - the 4x4 is not making any effort to catch up and never does! What is the point of that? Ok even if they over took in an aggressive manner then fair does, but the fact they invade your boot space, and then when you do get away from them or out of their road they make no effort to pass you - says everything.

This anyway got me thinking why not instead of having speed cameras and traffic signal cameras - have Anti-Tailgating cameras. This could work in everyone's favor. By introducing them in towns - idiots like the one I described above will get fined and greeted with 6 penalty points preferably and there will be less risk of you getting punted in the rear bumper. Conversely flip the rule on the motor way - raise the speed limit on the motorways and for the outside lane for the people are doing less than 65mph in reasonable conditions, then the camera should catch them instead as they are causing delays.

The problem on the roads are these absolute clowns who are causing tailgating or driving too slow for the motorway outside lane. In towns the same problem exists these idiots not giving a s*** - although it would be their fault for tailgating you're still put at an inconvenience because of them.

    Anyway rant over!!

Does anyone else drive on the M8?

Yep i hate the ****er too!

I was coming home from the office(2hrs away) via the M65 in blackburn when ken to get home doing 90mph a corsa van came right up my rusty rear!!

I keenly overtaking people so i dont know where he wanted me to go.

Anyway i pulled in and two clowns gave me every sign under the sun and flew past. It was this stage that i realised they had no seat belts on and hoped they would have a crash.

    Total toss pots every where.

Yep, I hate them too! My 'remedy' is to give it a quick squirt to put a bit of distance between me and them. Last thing I want is to have to hit the brakes for some reason - and believe me the car stops bl**dy quickly now - and end up with some knob up my rear!!

What about being behind someone whos doing 40 in a 60. Then when they come into a 30 they continue doing 40. And when they are doing 40 in a 60 they slow down when they go past a speed camera. Just one of the idiots I have seen today.

    have Anti-Tailgating cameras.
My dads a driving instructor and as you can imagine he suffers from tail gating a lot. Hence why his body shop has told him they can no longer weld any more in place to the rear of his car in the event of another rear end shunt.

He now actually advertises he has video recording in progress on the rear of his car and has noticed a huge reduction in it.

Always slow right down till I'm crawling then give it a blast and they usually get the hint, if they don't I just go slower and slower.

If they get too close, I've been known to put my hazard lights on. Normally works.

No, m8 I was travelling Glasgow from Wemyss Bay - complete opposite side but apparently everyroad into Edinburgh was being shut. I am going out on a limb here but ironically maybe tailgating was to blame here - people not leaving enough room between them and the car in front.

Best fun we ever had was a few years back when I was a steeple jack.

We where driving to our digs in south shields when a car full of plonkers tried to run us of the road.

Your immediate reaction is to flash some lights and give them the birdie.

Well the car over took us and stopped infront of us in the middle of the road. At this stage you usually have a bum hole like a wind sock! however my mate is 6ft 8" and 21stone of pure beast when he stepped out the van and stood up these two fellas sprinted like linford and where gone in a flash!

Always helps to have a big fella in the passenger seat!
