3.0 v6 cdti advice

i have just purchased a signum 3.0 cdti v6 and am luving it!
it has a full vauxhall service history,but i would like to change the oil a bit more than advised by vauxhall,lots of people are advising different oil grades to use any advice please?
i am also thinking about a remap could anyone tell me what sort of horses can you expect???there is 51k miles on my signum and i was thinking about a timing belt change also has anyone any advice on this to cheers

The oil that VX reccomend is 5W30 fully synthetic, so as long as it meets that spec you should be fine..

Remaps are possible.. torquingBHP in cambridge have a very good reputation having mapped beautifully two members cars in the past..

Timing belt change is scheduled at 80,000 miles..unless you are 100% on that engine and want to buy the locking tools, give it to the dealer to do..too much can go wrong.

Big issues with remaps of the 3.0CDTi....the engine, although indestructible when standard, doesn't seem to cope with extra power very well. Maverick has been working with the VXR Performance Centre to try and get a remap written, but no joy yet. Hang on - is yours a facelift or pre facelift?

Definitely do it. It should have been done at 40k, although Vx 'recommend' 80k - might be worth checking the service history to make sure it wasn't. If not, get it done sooner rather than later.

2004 means prefacelift, so the same mappable engine as Cabbys and Harry's....
