Default 1.9cdti inlet manifold repaired for a quid!

Well yeah I have repaired my inlet manifold for a quid and I will be posting a how to shortly but in the mean time does anyone know what the recently (according to my local stealers warranty guy) issued "field remedy" 2065 is all about, which relates to this inlet manifold issue and as we know VX have modified the design to stop the linkage falling off!
Linkage as mentioned on here by Woodsta I think with a picture somewhere??
As for the design, well tell me how the hell a linkage with plastic bits sat ontop of the inlet manifold subject to all that heat and vibration nevermind the actuation itself is supposed to last the life of the car?? it is beyond me!
and obviously it wont and my bet is that everyone of these will fail before 100K miles.
mine fell off at about 73K and has now been back on for the last 3K and working just fine.

Hi, the pic is in my original post: "1.9 CDTi, juddering and spanner"

Ive not checked my new one since they replaced it!

Might pop the cover off and check it, then again shes running fine and my hands are clean

Be interested in what you have come up with.

Wright to VX head office and enclose your receipts, you might get some dosh back. I argued and ended splitting 50/50 or 60/40.

Default further stuff re inlet manifold

Hi All, well as you know I did a repair on my inlet manifold and it has worked just fine through the best part of 6K miles but I wanted to see what VX would have to say about it so sent her into the dealers last week and told them what had happened including repairing the thing!
They eventually came back to me after passing it through to VX Customer services and bearing in mind that my Siggy has done 83K miles agreed to pay 80% yes 80% of the cost of replacement!!!!
well I nearly crashed the courtesy car I can tell you!!
So all up it cost me £135 for a new manifold with all the added bits so I think we can safely assume now that VX have admitted the design fault with this and you can see how its been modified on the new one.
OK you could argue that they should have done the job for free but I'm happy enough with the outcome.
Doesn't add to the reliability index though since 65K my Siggy has had:-
    Steering Rack
    Alternator(recall)
dual mass flywheel (including clutch VX didn't want to know but Warranty Direct payed out).
    Inlet manifold
incidentally Dealers offered me a discounted Cambelt change for £210 inc vat which I'm Gonna get done very shortly! I was under the impression that the cambelt had to come off to repalce this manifold but apparentlly not just the top covers.

Hi, been in touch with dealer in Hull and they were quite arsey, didn't even acknowledge that this was a recognised issue. When I explained that VX had now modified the design the response I got was ' Have they really? News to me mate ' !!!
Could you confirm which dealer you used and approximate dates so I can quote facts and figures to them.

    Many thanks Shaun.

As per my dealers, they changed all the timing assembly including the tensioners too.
