Sub + MPG issues

Hey lads,

Right, I'm very much into my audio and in my old car i had a PBX 15" run off a Blaupunkt BD2 (around 1500rms) at 1ohm and a set of oz audio matrix comps in the front run off a DLS A4 (250rms per side)

Now, i dont have the sub anymore as it sadly passed away from the evil that is clipping but i am thinking about purchasing two 15" matrix elites to go in the boot.

My question is, what effect would this have on my MPG, baring mind that it will be around a 9cft box of 15mm MDF and two large subs.

Its a 1.8 VVT btw

I have this JBL basstube in mine, only a 1.8 & didn't notice any change with MPG

TBH, I wouldn't imagine you'd notice a dramatic change - it's only the same as carrying a bootload of clobber around. A 9cuft box is big though.....guess you don't want to carry anything else in the boot?

You'll probably suffer more mpg loss by the amount of power needed to drive it than from the extra weight

Yes - 1.8 economy is appalling anyway, so it won't exactly make it an better....
