Default 1000 mile oil / filter change?

I've just done 1000 in my new car and was thinking of getting an oil and filter change done. Is this wasting money or recommended best practice?

    Cars a 1.9 CDTi (150)

    Thanks in advance

    Mike

if you're a cautious man ( like me) then you'd do a quick interim service to remove any debris left over from the engine's manufacture... It's only going to cost you around £45 so it's cheap long term prevention in my book..

    Hi

yes just 1000 but in the past I have always done an oil change on a new engine just to remove the rubbish. I know on newer cars these days you don't even need to run them in but I wanted a second opinion on changing the oil.

    I will book it in.

    Thanks for the help

    Mike

I know what your saying but in my mind it saves me having to go out and buy the parts, scramble around under the car to drain the oil and change the filter then disposing of the used oil properly. I'm embarassed to admit it all adds up to a bit too much hassle in my book.

    lol - fair enough!

Well save yourself paying Vx labour then and have it done at a good independent (if you weren't planning that already! ) Daft to pay Vx labour for an oil/filter change.

Agree completely, if it was my car, yes I would.........

All my cars have been new, and I have ALWAYS had this done, regardless of what manufacturer or dealer said, £100.00 or thereabouts not a great deal...especially when you just bought it.

The cost of an oil and filter change is nothing compared to the cost of the car, in your case from new.

Anyway, the car will the realise you love it, and not break down, you will form a symbiotic loving partnership between you both.......Oh..And always talk to it, thank it for getting you from A-B, then it will never break down......... That's why I kept the van, so it can talk to Car when I am not there. They are both very, very happy.
