    Default Petrol Price

I received an email at work today with this note, and I normally ignore stuff like this, but it's a pretty good idea.

We are hitting 99.9p a litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced
with paying £1+ a ltr. ****** *********** offered this good idea:
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain
day campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil
companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't
continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of
an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever
thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.
Please read it and join in!

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us
to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take
aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the market place
not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we
consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the
price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not
purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting
ourselves. Here's the idea: For the rest of this year DON'T purchase
ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one),
ESSO and BP. If they are not selling any petrol, they will be
inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the
other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact we
need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's
    really simple to do!!

Read this last week when I was doing some research for tax and how the government rapes us. A good idea if enough people got on the band wagon ,but I doubt it will work, a shame as it would work.

It's been around a few times now, doesn't really work as Esso and BP tend to supply supermarkets too, so they'd send more their way instead of their branded forecourts, plus Esso and BP have refineries making all manner of different fuels to keep them in money!

I got that mail too, forwarded it to everyone in my contact list, I don't use BP or Esso anyway, I don't know how anyone can justify paying the prices BP charge, they're always 3-4p per litre higher than anyone else! I use Shell, every single time, again, it's going to take everyone actively doing it to make it work though...

I was at an Esso a while ago and they had really old pumps with an out of date conversion chart on the side so you could work out the price per gallon... Only went up to 65p a litre!

Sounds like a good idea but at the end of the day its the ever increasing tax thats really pushing the prices up. Bring back the petrol barricades of 6 years ago!

The dearest I've seen is V-power UL at 105.9, but at the other shell garage it's at 101.9 and barely 10 miles apart
