    Default Byebye Vectra.... welcome new Vectra. VDA?

    Well, I finally went ahead and did it - traded in the 2005 Elite CDTi 150 for................................... a 2007 Facelift Elite CDTi 150 !!

    The only other car I considered and took for a test drive was a Mazda 6 Sport 143 diesel, which was a very nice car but, to misappropriate an old nursery rhyme;

    I do not like thee, Mazda 6,
    The reason why I cannot tell;
    But this I know, and know full well,
    I do not like thee, Mazda 6.

    I really couldn't put my finger on why, but I just couldn't see myself spending the next few years driving it, despite the attractions of all the kit fitted as standard.

    Another factor in my choice was this forum - nothing similar seems to exist for Mazdas. There is so much friendly advice and assistance here, whatever arises someone can usually help. So thanks folks - I'm still around!

    First question - do the facelift cars still have VDA sockets for installing a phone kit? If I pull the glovebox out, will I find one like the previous Vectra?

    Regards.

    Pretty certain they dont , you may be lucky , it was one of the things stripped out at facelift time , you can get a direct audio input lead from autoleads though.

    I am still considering what to replace my vec with.

    Until I decide it's staying!

    I know what you mean about the Mazda, I too considered one but it doesn't do it for me.

    And - a Passat, a Mondeo , an Is220d, an Avensis, an Accord, and a 9-3, among others!

    I can wait, I know how to wait!!

    If nothing else comes up another vec will be on the cards!

    Default Alternatives to Vectra

    One constraint I had was that I cannot live with the impracticality of a 4 door saloon car and dislike estate cars - whatever marketing inspired names like 'sports tourer' or 'active lifestyle vehicle' are applied to them.

    So that rules out the Accord (a fine car actually), 9-3, Passat and Lexus. It seems that if the manufacturer has executive pretensions to chase the German big three (BMW, Merc & Audi) then one cannot be seen to have a hatchback version in the range - hatches are strictly for the "sales reps" and the small family cars in the range. Pah!

    Have to agree with you, this forum has probably saved us all time and money. Great bunch of guys and girls that definately enhances Vectra ownership!

    Hope you enjoy the new motor.
